I've been interested in the association between stress, the food we eat and the effect these have on our health since a bout of glandular fever stopped me in my tracks in my early 30's. Having said that, I think I've always been aware that drugs, chemicals and junk food are detrimental to our immunity, and have always tried to adopt a more natural approach to healthcare using Mother Nature as a way of rebalancing the body, enabling it to heal itself, to alleviate and prevent disease.

I graduated with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy (Fd/Sc) at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) London in 2009 and have continued to further my interest and knowledge of natural health sciences since. In 2021 I gained a distinction in Emotional Aromatherapy, recognising the crucial emotional aspect of food in order to help people with erratic eating habits. Because with the best will in the world positive changes cannot be made to diet and lifestyle where trapped emotions from the past are involved. This is a subject close to my heart as I have personally struggled with disordered eating for most of my life. and have only recently come across the tools needed to manage this.

I am now studying Ayurveda and Siddha Veda; ancient holistic medicine from India which takes diet and lifestyle recommendations one step further and addresses an individual's unique constitutional needs, seasonal changes and uses the pulse to detect imbalance and disease processes. It's going to be a long 3 years, but well worth the effort. I'll be looking for case studies and my clients have the option of consulting with an Ayurvedic Dr in order for me to observe and learn the clinical process.

Personally I've always loved endurance sport and have in the past been a competitive marathon runner. I'm more of a cyclist these days.. much easier on the joints age 60! If I'm not working, cooking or studying you'll find me on my bike somewhere in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. I look forward to hearing from you.
