I'm Nikki, a 200hr Yoga Alliance Certified teacher based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I came to yoga around eight years ago after being advised to try it out by a counsellor as a tool to aid my mental health. It began with pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation to assist with anxiety before organically moving toward an exploration of the different yoga schools and their use of asanas (postures) and movements.
I've since hosted a variety of classes from anxiety workshops to yoga for creativity to more dynamic and powerful sessions. I'm currently researching and developing a workshop for women and their cycles and I'm excited to continue learning more about the benefits of yoga on different elements of our lives.
I hope to give people a safe space to explore the capabilities of their bodies and implement yogic techniques to work towards a deeper connection to self.
I try my best to stay dedicated to the authentic roots of yoga in my classes, whether that be working with chakras, drawing on yogic philosophy or stripping it down to the core asanas of original Hatha practice. There is so much to be gained by regular yoga practice, both physically and mentally and I'm excited to continue to connect to people through it.
