In small doses, this anxiety works well to protect us and that is a good thing. For example if you are being chased by a lion, you would feel pretty anxious and the body and mind would have a reaction to this danger. Adrenaline would be pumping and your fight or flight response and nervous system will kick in. Now this response is all well and good if you are actually being chased by a lion, but if this response kicks in and there is no lion, it can become quite debilitating.
